Martin Environmental Solutions specialise in undertaking risk assessments for the Private Sector of potential contaminated land sites, principally in order to assess the risk of contamination to human health and the environment from historic land use.
Generally this is to satisfy requirements as part of a planning process.
We undertake a phased approach to the risk assessment of potentially contaminated land in line with current statutory and best practice guidance.
Our initial Phase I Desk Study Report involves a review of available historical information relating to the land use of your site and the surrounding area, combined with a site survey / walk-over.
This aids the production of a conceptual model to assess the potential risks to identified receptors.
Where risks are identified, we can develop and undertake an Intrusive Phase II Investigation of your site, liaising with the relevant local authority contaminated land officer.
A full report detailing the findings of the Intrusive Phase II Investigation will be produced together with a Remediation Plan should the results of the investigation indicate the presence of contamination above the identified acceptable levels.
Costs of this work will vary depending on the size and type of your site. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
As a former industrial heartland, the North West of England has a considerable legacy of historical land contamination involving a wide range of substances.
All land contains background levels of substances, including those naturally occurring as part of our varied and complex geology and those resulting from human pollution.
Some land contains greater concentrations of contaminants, often associated with industrial use and waste disposal. In a minority of cases these may pose a sufficient risk to human health or the environment for such land to be considered contaminated land.
